About six months ago, we noticed a leak in our roof that was staining the bedroom ceiling. Before finding Manny and Fernando, I had another contractor come out. Ironically, they had found me because they were "doing work in the neighborhood." The visit quickly turned into a high-pressure sales pitch, with them trying to get me to sign for a full roof replacement before they left. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I put the whole project off for a couple of months.
One day while riding my bike through Montgomery, I happened to notice the office for this company. I figured I'd give a local business that I found on my own a chance, and I'm so glad I did.
That's when we met Manny and Fernando.
From the very beginning they were friendly, professional, and incredibly respectful of our home. They took their shoes off every time they came inside (major brownie points if you're Asian...you know why that matters!). They thoroughly inspected the leak and, unlike the previous company, never pressured me into buying a new roof. They simply explained that they could repair the leak or replace the roof, and the decision was completely up to me.
I really appreciated that approach. Any company that pressures you into making a same-day decision is a company I'd recommend walking away from.
When Manny provided the estimate, the price was right in line with the other quote I had received, but it included so much more. Instead of limiting plywood replacement to the typical five sheets that many roofing companies include, they replaced all of the plywood. The quote also included repairing the drywall from the leak, repainting the bedroom ceiling, and even fixing some siding on the house. It was clear they cared about leaving the entire project finished properly, not just replacing the shingles.
I really liked their vibe and felt confident they were the kind of company I wouldn't regret hiring.
When the project started, I jokingly asked if I could throw a few things into the dumpster. Well...we ended up filling the entire thing! They did charge us for the additional dumpster use, which was completely fair, and it turned into a convenient excuse to do some much-needed spring cleaning.
The project itself went very smoothly. The solar team removed the panels first, the roofing crew completed the new roof in about two days, and then the solar panels were reinstalled. They also power washed and cleaned everything around the house when they were finished.
While we were at it, we decided to replace the gutter guards and upgrade our skylight. Instead of having three separate skylights, we now have one large custom skylight that completely transformed the room. There was one small hiccup when the original skylight plan didn't fit, so we had to wait for a custom-ordered unit. Looking back, I'm actually glad that happened because the custom skylight is absolutely beautiful and was well worth the wait.
Throughout the entire project, Manny kept us updated with drone photos, videos, and progress pictures, so we always knew exactly what was happening. That level of communication gave us a lot of confidence, and I'll be including some of those photos with this review.
One thing people don't always think about is the warranty. A 30-year warranty sounds great, but it's only as good as the company behind it. Manny and Fernando are young enough that I expect they'll still be answering the phone when I cash in that warranty 30 years from now...unless they retire early on all the referrals they're going to get! Judging by how they run their business, I have no doubt the company will still be around, too.
We couldn't have picked a better contractor for our roof. If you're looking for an honest, professional roofing company that values quality over high-pressure sales tactics, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
When it's time for us to replace our siding, there's no question who we'll be calling.
